Creativity

We have been tasked with looking for elements of media that inspire our creativity, the word document bellow are several examples of what inspires me:

Inspirational moments

This is a clip from the final lord of the rings film “the return of the king” this particular scene inspires me because of the amount of emotion this scene creates for me, the speech encourages you to keep on fighting no matter what the odds for the fate of you’re world and everything you hold dear.

Another lord of the rings clip here this time from the first film “the fellowship of the ring” this clip bring up the idea of sacrificing yourself in order to protect those you love, though you may die at least they will be safe this inspires me because the thought of someone willing to risk their life for their friends is truly touching and the way peter Jackson has directed this clip is just fantastic

In case I haven’t made it clear, I am inspired greatly by the award winning director Peter Jackson, because of the superb films he has produced and the themes they cover, honour, faith, good over evil, adventure, trust, friendship and courage.

Music quite often brings out my creative side; my favourite inspirational songs include this is heavy metal by Lordi, Hunting Pirates by Turisas. These bands both belong to the heavy metal genre however they are not the normal stereotype with loud screaming lyrics and ear piercing guitar solos. In fact they are very unique, Lordi are a band that dress up as monsters and Turisas dress like Vikings.

Editing 2 (wednesday 14th March)

Today we have started to create our stick figure sequence as this is the last part of the video we need to sort out. we hope to have finished this sequence by the end of the lesson today.

Editing 1 (wednesday 7th march)

Today the group began to start the editing process of our music video. With all the clips successfully uploaded we now only have to create our stick figure sequence, over all we now feel like our video is really coming together and we have little work left to do.

Redundancy and Entropy 1

Music video: Hard rock Hallelujah special edition
Band: Lordi
Genre: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal

This music video was first shown live on the Eurovision song contest in 2007 as the opening video after the Finnish metal band Lordi won the contest the year before with their song “Hard Rock Hallelujah”. Lordi have a unique image that attracts their audience: the whole band is dressed as monsters including a mummy guitarist and an un-dead Minotaur on base (Bizarre I know) this video is a testament to Lordi’s image: Monsters, Fire, Ice and Rock.

Entropic Elements

One very odd element of the video is the fact that it starts like a film preview with dramatic “x factor style” choir music and titles introducing the location, as well as face paced cuts between different metal symbolist shots.

The bands’ costumes are not what you would expect in a band, in fact they hardly look human at all, their costumes hide their true identity making them almost like heavy metal super heroes, and this attracts their audience because of the element of mystery they provide

Another very unexpected entropic element is the fact that half way through the music video the bands lead singer, Mr Lordi, breathes fire at the screen and is suddenly on stage in a live performance in a packed arena. This gives the impression of Lordi’s victory over typical music the year before.

 Redundant Elements
The symbolism of heavy metal such as the bands symbol, fire, darkness, action and tribal themes are often featured in this sort of music video and Lordi are no exception and their logo is shown here.

Typical to the genre the band are shown in almost every shot singing, playing their instruments or acting.

Almost all music videos have back ground characters to give more variety to the video. In this video all the characters are wearing similar costumes to the band themselves.

Filming update 5th March

Today we have taken some shots of jack drawing and throwing away our stick figure, this links the drawn stick man sequence we are working on to the rest of the video, this is quite likely to be the last of our filming posts and we are now moving on to editing.
